Lindsay Lohan is reportedly in talks to star in the Lifetime film 'Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story.'

Lindsay Lohan could make her biggest career comeback if she takes on a new role portraying the late Dame Elizabeth Taylor.

The troubled starlet is in early talks to play the sexy silver screen siren in an original Lifetime film, "Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story," according to Deadline.

The story will reportedly take a look inside Taylor's rocky, yet passionate relationship with Burton, whom she was married to twice in the span of 12 years.

The film, produced by Larry Thompson ("Amish Grace") and written by Christopher Monger ("Temple Grandin"), was announced as part as Lifetime's 2011-12 development slate.

Though Lohan had a promising start with box office hits like "Friday Friday" and "Mean Girls," the actress' personal troubles have sidelined her career. These days, the 25-year-old garners more attention for her numerous arrests, court room appearances, stints in rehab and nude pictorials.

However playing Taylor, who died in March at age 79, may not come as a stretch for Lohan, who has been a longtime fan of Hollywood sex symbol Marilyn Monroe.

According to a 2004 Slate story, both Lohan and Taylor "had domineering stage mothers, little semblance of a real childhood, fame from a young age, substance abuse issues, public emotional outpourings, and copious amounts of tabloid drama.

"The key difference, though, is that Elizabeth Taylor had a true record of achievement before she became the most notorious movie star in America."
