Michael C. Hall plays Dexter Morgan, a police department blood spatter expert who moonlights as a serial killer, on 'Dexter.'
PASADENA â" Showtimeâs serial killer dramedy âDexterâ will likely meet its own end after the next two seasons, network Entertainment President David Nevins said Thursday.
Or not.
Nevins told TV critics that âwe now know the end gameâ of the show and it will probably happen at the conclusion of its recently announced two-season extension.
âBut notice I said âlikely endpointâ,â Nevins added. âWeâre keeping our options open.â
âDexter,â which launched in 2006, had its sixth season this fall. It stars Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, a police department blood spatter expert who moonlights as a serial killer.
He mostly just kills people who need killing, but nonetheless, his avocation has induced enough potential complications that at some point his story probably needs to be resolved.
Nevins said the bigger immediate complication next season will involve Dexterâs relationship with his adoptive sister Debra (Jennifer Carpenter).
âWe felt it was time to shake up what Dexter goes through and make him less of a lone wolf,â said Nevins, who promised âa big revealâ at the end of the seventh season that will launch next fall.
