While the Golden Globes are Hollywoodâs most star-studded event, itâs actually the event planners who hold the real power in the room because they get to design the seating chart. Then again, itâs mostly a paint-by-numbers job since tradition dictates that casts are lumped together. Whatâs the fun in that? Weâre turning it over to you, PopWatchers. If you could be lucky enough to attend the Globes tomorrow night, who would you like to have at your table?
Iâll get the ball rolling. Sure, it would be easy to say I want to sit next to pretty much all of the Best Actor nominees and their dates, but that discounts all the funny ladies and up-and-comers who could be more fun. That said, I will take one of the Best Actor contenders: Ryan Gosling. Thatâs a no-brainer. Iâd also rope in his Crazy, Stupid, Love co-star Emma Stone and her boyfriend/Amazing Spider-Man co-star Andrew Garfield. A mini-reunion from the 2011 Emmy Best Comedy Actress pageant would also be in order because Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and the shockingly snubbed presenter Melissa McCarthy would keep the mood light. With her ultra-sassy performance as Minnie in The Help in mind, Octavia Spencer would also brin g the funny. With four seats to go and a definite gender imbalance, Iâd invite host Ricky Gervaisâs favorite punching bag Karl Pilkington and gentle giant Stephen Merchant, who would be sure to cry (as he is admittedly wont to do) from laughter at watching Pilkington try to figure out Lady Gaga. She can join the 12-top, but only if she wears something akin to the meat dress (but less smelly). The final chair goes to American Horror Storyâs Rubber Man. Obviously!
Your turn, PopWatchers? Who is on your Globes tablemate wish list?
